The history of Uvdal Maskinfabrikk
Entrepreneur Arve Flatin and investor Karl H. Høie established Uvdal Maskinfabrikk AS (UMF) in 1987. At the time, the defence industry in Kongsberg was the main market for the company.
The business eventually turned towards oil and Subsea. With its constant development and growth, UMF became one of the driving forces behind the construction of Nore and Uvdal Næringspark, which was move-in ready in 2000. In 2008, Arve G Flatin AS acquired the entire ownership, and the company was 100% locally owned.
With an undeviating quality focus and solid professional expertise over a number of years, UMF has established itself as a world-class Norwegian supplier.
UMF is 100% owned by Norwegian Universal Technology AS (NUT). NUT is 100% owned by Geir Egil Østebøvik, who over the years has built up a group of companies with more than 400 employees and a total turnover of 900 MNOK, headquartered in Aksdal (East of Haugesund). These companies operate in various business areas, globally:
